R300's visit Spa Francorchamps

Spa Francorchamps

After a two month break the R300's returned for the season higlight at Spa Francorchamps. Conditions were ideal with glorious sunshine for all three days. Friday practice saw James Sharrock get off to an excellent start setting an early pace in the test session. He followed this through to qualifying, easily getting pole position with a time much quicker than his fellow competitors. Jonny Leroux was not far behind qualifying fourth and Simon Martyn achieved a respectable eleventh place on the grid.

In race one James and Jonny got off to a fantastic start both at the front of the pack by the top of Eau Rouge. Jonny broke away with fellow competitor Jonathan Walker for what was a fantastic battle that lasted until the end of the race. The race ended with Jonny's well deserved maiden race victory. James finished in 6th place and enjoyed some close racing with the rest of the pack. Simon finished in 11th place.

Race 2 saw Jonny start from pole position eager to repeat the success of the first race. As the race unfolded it was again a closely fought match with Jonathan Walker, with the lead swapping between the two drivers a numberof times. In the end Jonny achieved an excellent second place and his second fatest lap of the season. James got caught up in some early race squabbles but pulled back from these to achieve sixth place. Simon fought from eleventh place on the grid to get his best finish of the season in seventh place.
