Silverstone GP for R300's

Silverstone GP

An action packed Silverstone GP circuit hosted the penultimate rounds of the R300 championship. The single header meeting got off to a fantastic start in qualifying with Jonny Leroux grabbing his first pole position on his very last lap of the session. James Sharrock qualified in a respectable seventh place and Simon Martyn in tenth.

Race 1 was another closely fought battle with the lead swapping a number of times. Both Jonny and James were in the leading pack throughout the race, with Jonny taking the lead on a number of occasions. At the start of the last lap the team had high hopes as Jonny was in a close second place, an ideal position to win the race from. However, a missed gear on the last but one corner meant that Jonny had to settle for second place. James gained a place on his start position finishing sixth and Simon finished in eleventh place.

Race 2 got off to a bad start for Jonny after stalling on the grid and ending up in last position. Once he had restarted the car he began to persue his competitors with amazing results - by the second to last lap of the race he was crossing start / finish line in joint first position. After this point he was unfortunately hit by another competitor and was unable to finish the race. James also had an excellent race, enjoying close racing with the top six drivers. The last couple of laps saw a charge from James that resulted in third position. Simon achieved his second best result to date with an eighth place finish.
